Article: CTA holds open house on Swift line extension

The Chicago Transit Authority will hold an open house concerning a proposed extension of the Skokie Swift's Yellow Line from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 26 on the third floor at National-Louis University, 5202 Old Orchard Road.

The area under consideration is bordered by Old Orchard Road on the north, Skokie Boulevard on the east, Dempster Street on the south and Central Avenue/Harms Road on the west.

In 2003, the village received grant money to conduct a feasibility study on extending the Skokie Swift line north to Old Orchard Road. Part of the study results concluded that an Oakton Street station was advisable and feasible, which is currently being designed and constructed.
