Article: Native American event shows life before TV

FRANKFORT - If you give a bored child a set of sticks and a dried corn husk, they're likely to give you a confused look that seems to ask, 'Where does it plug in?'

Years ago, however, Native American children used to use these very same items to have fun by rolling the sticks into hoops and then seeing how many they could accurately toss onto the husk.

"I think a lot of kids find it hard to believe that there was a life before TV and video games and cell phones," said Jan Schafer, of Frankfort.
