Article: Skokie Swift to keep service on weekends

A rise in the number of riders on the Skokie Swift has prompted the CTA to continue its weekend service.

The CTA reported a 7.3 percent increase in weekday Skokie Swift ridership during July compared to a 4 percent increase in the entire CTA rail system that month.

The CTA earlier this year offered weekend service again on a trial basis. And because the weekend service has been equally brisk by all accounts, the CTA recently announced that service will continue on Saturdays and Sundays.

The CTA reported an average of 1,323 Saturday boardings and 1,135 Sunday boardings in July at its Dempster Street station.
