Jason Southerland, a founder and artistic director of Boston Theatre Works -- a company that has specialized in showcasing new plays and major contemporary classics since 1998 -- has been named artistic director of Evanston's Next Theatre. He will take over for Jason Loewith, who has led the company since 2002, tripled its subscriber base and budget, and earned acclaim as producer and co-creator of "The Adding Machine," the award-winning musical produced here and Off-Broadway. Loewith, who is moving to Washington, D.C., will assist in the transition in the coming months.
