Can anyone reasonably expect to maintain an acceptable quality of life if they are suffering from chronic pain? For most, the answer is an emphatic "no." Chronic pain is generally described as pain that persists for six months or more. The most common forms of chronic pain are back pain, neck pain, headaches, cancer pain and pain resulting from an earlier trauma or injury. Imagine waking with pain every morning. It is easy to understand how living with persistent pain for weeks or months without relief can affect school or job performance and the ability to interact with family and friends.
