Libertyville will host the first annual Shop Libertyville Tour on Saturday to give local merchants a boost as they weather the worst economy in decades.
As the name implies, residents and shoppers from other communities are encouraged to shop in Libertyville. Several merchants will run promotions or offer samples and refreshments.
Sue Opeka, owner of The Present Moment, which sells jewelry, spa items and other products meant to uplift, was looking for a way to promote downtown. She contacted Mayor Jeffrey Harger.
