A Downers Grove resident celebrated its 60th birthday Nov. 16 with food, fun and - an organ.
The 1,500-member Gloria Dei Lutheran Church ministry celebrated those six decades with an organ concert Nov. 16 and the completion of a church building project.
"Enthusiasm was high, and the applause was hearty," said the Rev. Dr. Michael Rothaar, Gloria Dei's pastor. "There were moments that were just thrilling."
The church began when the pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in LaGrange saw his congregation moving to Downers Grove, Rothaar said.
