It sometimes seems as if Rupert Murdoch's full name is Media Mogul Rupert Murdoch. The wealthy Australian has bought and sold newspapers, magazines, television stations and other communications properties most of his adult life. That covers lots of decades, because Murdoch is approaching age 80.

In 1983, he bought the Chicago Sun-Times because he could, and because he wanted to establish himself as a Media Mogul in the United States, as well as Australia and England. Later, Murdoch sold the Sun-Times to help him expand his media empire in other cities.
