For the second time in three months, the City Council will consider a developer's proposal to build a cell phone tower near a residential neighborhood. Steve Hedges, representing T-Mobile Central LLC, is asking for a special use permit to build a tower at 4545 W. 15th Ave.

Mark Wilson, external affairs manager for T-Mobile, said it would strengthen the city's wireless communication system without putting residents' health at risk.

The City Council's planning committee is scheduled to hear the request during a public meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday in City Hall. Ragen Hatcher, D-at large and chair of the committee, could not be reached for comment Monday.
