By Becky Schlikerman staff writer Chicago Heights officials want to entice new businesses into the city's downtown. They also want to bring in and retain industrial companies. That's why they've proposed two tax increment financing districts to add to the four already in existence in the city. The city last week voted to hold a public hearing on a proposed a downtown TIF district meant to redevelop the once bustling city center. The hearing is set for March 2. Also in the works is an industrial TIF district, formally known as an Industrial Jobs Recovery Law Redevelopment Plan, for the Behr Paint plant and the property surrounding it.
