Glenview resident Gretchen Grad will be presented with the "Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award" for her work in founding Hands of Peace by Hamilton Ventures, an association of Hamilton College alumni devoted to new enterprise development.

Grad is the founder and board member of Hands of Peace, an interfaith, non-profit group that brings together Israeli, Palestinian and American teens for dialogue and leadership training.

Founded in 2002 as a direct response to the events of 9/11 by three mothers -- one Christian, one Muslim and one Jewish -- the program brings the teens together each summer for a two-week program of intensive dialogue, leadership training and year-round follow-up. It is ...
