A West Virginia plane crash that killed six Chicago area residents has created tremors of shock and grief in the city's Polish-American community.
The tragedy also has drawn the attention of Poles around the world, said Rev. Ted Dzieszko, who honored the victims at a mass at St. Constance Church Sunday.
"All of Polonia [the extended Polish community] is talking about this," he said. "I got a call from the Polish consulate, Washington and Warsaw."
The six were united by a love of their Polish culture and flying. Four were members of Chicago's American Polish Aero-Club.
