Article: No contested races in Northlake

For the first time since the city of Northlake was incorporated in 1949, there will be no contested races at city hall.

This April, incumbents will be the only ones on the ballot for mayor, treasurer, clerk and four city council seats.

"I would love to say it's because we're doing such a good job," said Mayor Jeff Sherwin. "I don't know."

He adds that he's happy to see the lack of competition.

"We can concentrate on the business at hand rather than working on a three-month distraction," Sherwin said.
