By Susan DeMar lafferty Staff writer Federal funds could go a long way to keep lake water flowing through 257 miles of pipeline to 12 Southland communities. Officials in New Lenox, one of the 12 towns that get Lake Michigan water from Chicago via Oak Lawn, think the expansion and rehabilitation of that water distribution system deserves to be included in the national stimulus package. The village board approved a resolution Monday showing its support for the estimated $193 million project. "We would like any stimulus money we can get for this," Mayor Tim Baldermann said. Since 1999, New Lenox has been part of Oak Lawn's water distribution system, which serves approximately 312,000 people. ...
