MESA, Ariz. - Are Alfonso Soriano's days as the Cubs' leadoff hitter finally coming to an end?
Cubs manager Lou Piniella opened the door for a transition when he revealed plans Monday to try Soriano in some middle-order spots to see how he responds. Asked how he sees the three, four and five spots in his order, Piniella said, "We've got a combination of Derrek (Lee), (Milton) Bradley, (Aramis) Ramirez, and I'm not going to (rule) out the possibility of throwing Soriano in that mix, either."
