Eight Chicago cultural institutions are spotlighted at the Chicago Flower & Garden Show, all tipping floral bonnets to the theme of this year's show, "Our World in Bloom," signifying Chicago's status as an international city.
CHICAGO BOTANIC GARDEN
The Botanic Garden's "Hope for the Healing Planet" combines Japanese-inspired elements (such as Shoji screens) with methods to recycle rainwater. Three circular rooftop gardens show Zone 5 plant materials and decking made from farm-harvested hardwood. The display foretells a 16,000-square-foot rooftop evaluation garden opening in September at the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe.
