Plainfield North clinched a tie for the Southwest Prairie Conference title and established a new school record for victories Feb. 20.
However, feisty opponent Minooka made the Tigers earn those milestones in their battle in Plainfield.
Heavily-favored North won the contest 74-64 and commanded the game throughout, but the Tigers were never quite able to "open the floodgates" as first-year coach Nick DiForti described it.
North improved to 22-4 overall, 11-2 in the conference while Minooka fell to 10-14, 4-9.
The Tigers closed out the regular season Feb. 26 at Oswego East and had a chance to win the league title outright.
