Article: Casino workershelping at clinic for community

JOLIET - A youth basketball clinic today featuring players from the Chicago Sky WNBA team is the first of several sports-training events planned by the Unity Community Development Corp.

It's also the first of a number of volunteer projects being taken on by Empress Casino employees who are temporarily out of the casino business since the March 20 fire.

It's not too late to sign up for the clinic at the door, said Wayne Smith, recreation director for Unity CDC.

The clinic is for sixth- through 12th-grade boys and girls. The clinic, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Joliet Central High School, will be followed by a tournament from 2 to 6 p.m.

The cost per participant is $20.
