Article: MLK rentals start of a dream

For the time being, the goal of the Lawndale Christian Development Corp. is modest and clear-cut: Put up an apartment building at the northwest corner of 16th and Hamlin to address the area's critical lack of quality and affordable housing.

It's after that the ambitions become lofty. The Lawndale group, working with other West Side organizations, hopes the 45 new rental units will be the start of a historic district that will bring families and employers to the community.
