Brother Rice catcher Ricky Palmer wasted no time setting the tone against rival St. Rita when he led off the first inning with a home run.

The No. 1 Crusaders stayed undefeated and captured their second straight Chicago Catholic League Blue baseball championship Thursday with a 10-6 win over the No. 3 Mustangs at Brother Rice.

Brother Rice (27-0, 13-0) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Along with Palmer's homer, senior Kevin Callahan delivered an RBI double in the first. Callahan hit a grand slam in the third to give the Crusaders a 6-2 advantage.
