Article: Botanic Garden to be big presence at Navy Pier event

Traces of snow may still be on the ground, but spring is in full bloom at Navy Pier, where the Chicago Flower and Garden show returns Saturday with the theme, "Our World in Bloom," signifying Chicago's status as an international city.

Glencoe's Chicago Botanic Garden has one of the 25 featured gardens spotlighted on the show's midway.

Mariani Landscape designed the garden, titled "Hope for the Healing Planet."

Landscape architect Carrie Woleben-Meade, of Wilmette, said local materials and locally grown plants were used for the garden.

"I wanted to have ideas people can see at the show, take home and reproduce," Woleben-Meade said.
