Marjorie Howard makes no bones about it: She became a member of United Methodist Church in Skokie a few years ago specifically because of its unique log cabin.
"I was working here in Skokie and I drove by and happened to see the sign for United Methodist Church," she said. "I love home log fixtures, and as soon I saw this, I made the decision I had to attend that following Sunday. This log cabin really is what drew me to this church."
What Howard didn't know in 2005 when she joined the church was that the log cabin was a hot topic of conversation. And it became hotter once she was on board. Built in 1923, the cabin had became the subject of an all-important question that elicited different ...
