MAN SHOT BY GUARD IS CHARGED
A security guard shot and wounded a person who pointed a gun at him outside a South Side grocery store Sunday morning, according to police. Alfred Benson, 45, of the 6100 block of South Dorchester Avenue, was charged with aggravated assault and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after allegedly pointing his gun at a security guard, police said. The shooting happened about 10 a.m. outside the Aldi store in the 6600 block of South Cottage Grove, police said. Benson was shot twice in the left leg by a security guard at the store, police said. Police said the man was hospitalized in stable condition.
