Article: City council OKs Elks Club pact

AURORA - The City Council approved a deal to renovate the old Elks Club building Tuesday night, by a vote of 10-1.

Developer Steve Arwady plans to build 19 condominium units on the top three floors of the building, and a restaurant and art gallery on the first floor. Amaury Rosado, owner of Chef Amaury's Epicurean Affair, will bring his restaurant to the building, moving from his current location on the far East Side. Arwady will buy the four-story building from the city for $850,000, and plans to spend $3.4 million bringing his project to fruition. Many of his expenses will be reimbursable under the downtown tax increment financing district. Arwady plans to start construction by mid-June. ...
