By Carole Sharwarko and Jim Hook staff writers Some Glenwood residents awoke Friday to the sound of gunfire, as a South Holland police officer shot and killed a school bus hijacker who had led police on a 40-minute chase. Killed was Ronald Newsome, 35, 12113 S. Wallace St., Chicago, a driver for First Student Transportation Co., who had hijacked the bus after being told by his manager that he would not be allowed to drive Friday, South Holland police said. Police Chief Warren Millsaps said police were called about 7:25 a.m. to the company's bus lot in South Holland because Newsome was "acting erratically and threatening employees."
