Twenty years after founding the largest African-American Father's Day observance program, Yvette Moyo is struggling to keep the tradition of men cooking to benefit charities hot.
Sunday marks the 20th time she and her crew will pull off the Real Men Cook event in Chicago, dreamed up to put forth positive images of African-American fathers.
The event spread to other cities, but the economy has forced some of those to bow out this year.
No Los Angeles. No Detroit. No Benton Harbor, Mich. No Washington, D.C.
The Chicago event this year takes place at 3 p.m. Sunday at Kennedy-King College, moving from the South Shore Cultural Center, its home the last six years.
