An officer was seriously beaten Tuesday morning while reportedly stopping a Naperville man from burning down his ex-girlfriend's house.
Deputy Chief Patrick Kerr said the woman's mother called 911 at 10:23 a.m. after the man arrived at her home in the 2000 block of Chestnut Grove Drive in Joliet's Wesmere subdivision.
Adam M. Mahelich, 29, of 920 Fairway Drive in Naperville, had not been in contact with the woman since their relationship ended in the fall, according to reports.
