JOLIET - The members of the Will County Forest Preserve District decided Thursday to allow the village of Homer Glen to run a sewer line through the Fiddyment Creek Preserve.
They did not choose the path for the line, however.
The preserve is one of the district's newer pieces of property, and the area is know for the beauty of its mature trees and pristine creek. In 2007, the land comprising the 101-acre preserve that's north of 159th Street and east of Gougar Road was purchased for about $25 million.
At the time, some people opposed the deal, arguing the land should have been developed commercially because it was near Interstate 355, an ideal area for new businesses.
