Although Fred Flintstone's membership with the Loyal Order of Water Buffaloes Lodge No. 26 may seem quaint and nostalgic, the men's "night out" of the past was not designed to irritate the wives.
Rather, they provided men with a sense of identity today's young men often find hard to attain.
"I think we need to take a look at where we find our role models now that the culture is changing," said Dr. Allen Gill, psychiatrist with Allen Gill Consulting Services in Bloomingdale. He sees patients referred to him from various providers, including Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
