Article: New JJC logo features historic bell tower

The Joliet Junior College Board has approved the school's new logo, which includes not only a shield but its famous bell tower.

Last month, the college held off launching the new logo so the board could vote on it. Originally, the college had planned to move forward, putting the symbol on its Web site and golf shirts for JJC's Foundation fundraiser last week.

Trustee Andy Mihelich said the logo was something the board should have input on, so the design was put on hold and then approved at the June 16 board meeting.

The old logo, which was designed in the early 1980s, lacks a symbol and the word "junior" is small, said Andrea Lehmacher, director of marketing.
