Sue Yates of Kouts was boiling and it had nothing to do with the weather.
Yates said on April 9 her husband, Bruce, a 30-year deputy U.S. marshal, was deathly ill, suffering from end-stage liver cancer. She phoned her family doctor, who urged her to take him directly to Porter hospital's emergency room.
She said the treatment was professional and high quality.
"When we checked in nobody mentioned anything about the new ER physicians or any insurance payment problems. My husband passed away April 11 at Porter hospital and on June 16 I received a bill from Porter's ER physicians for $654. I laid it aside and waited for my insurer (Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Indiana) to pay its ...
