Two men who tried to exploit race to build their careers have seen their reputations crash on their own cynical ambitions. One is a broadcaster who trafficked in racial slurs to build a white audience and insult a team of young African American women at the moment they should have been exulting in their athletic excellence. The other is a lawyer/politician who employed racial stereotypes to manipulate the legal system to win votes of African Americans and threaten three young white men with long prison terms. Don Imus and Michael Nifong richly deserve the shame they have brought on themselves.
