SUGAR GROVE - Jeff Steenwyk surveyed the buzz of activity in his front yard Friday afternoon as about two dozen workers installed the stone pillars of a water pond system.

Steenwyk said he and his wife liked a rainwater retention system their neighbors had installed and took an opportunity, like many others in the Sugar Grove neighborhood, to combine a landscaping feature with potential cost savings.

"The (village) water is only going to get more expensive. Plus, why use it when you don't need to?" Steenwyk said.
