Recently, 22nd District state Sen. Mike Noland, D-Elgin, penned an extensive letter to his constituents, crowing about his not voting for the new state budget and so we must give him his due.

Good job, Mike. How come you didn't get enough of your colleagues to also extend the legislative session 'til we got a real budget?

We need a budget that pays for health care and in a timely manner; job formation with enough in wages to provide a decent lifestyle; and a budget that pays for the state infrastructure to be rebuilt. We need a budget that pays for education in a manner that will provide the knowledge that allows us to compete in today's real world.
