Just about every media outlet suggests "beach reads" for the summer. That often means light, sometimes frivolous books.
But instead, Margie White, an architect of the adult summer reading challenge at The Bookstore in Glen Ellyn, recommends reading "Wuthering Heights" on the water, "Paradise Lost" on the pier or any of the other classics highlighted in "Beowulf on the Beach," a witty, irreverent book by Jack Murnighan.
Murnighan, an Illinois native and a professor at the University of the Arts in New York, reveals how to get the most out of reading 50 of the biggest - and most often avoided - literary classics.
