One thing farmers know well: you can't fool Mother Nature.
And it does little good to curse her, either. "Mother Nature sets different rules all the time," said David Werdin, a retired farmer in Kaneville Township, whose son-in-law now farms the family land along Dauberman Road in Kane County. "It's part of the business; you expect it," echoed Dan Reedy, manager of the Kendall County Farm Bureau, about problems posed by the weather.
