This play was first published in the
First Folio
(1623). It is generally, though not unanimously, believed that Shakespeare collaborated in its composition with John
Fletcher
. There is no external evidence about this. The
Globe Theatre
burned down during one of the early performances of the play, on 29 June 1613. The event was described in a letter by Sir Henry
Wotton
, who refers to the play as

. His account, along with those of the other contemporary writers, names the play
