New York, on West 48th Street, between Broadway and the Avenue of the Americas. Built by William A.
Brady
, this opened in 1911, and had its first success with
Broadhurst's
Bought and Paid For
the same year. In 1915–16 Brady's wife Grace

appeared in a repertory which included Henry Arthur
Jones's
The Liars
, the first American performance of Shaw's
Major Barbara
, and a revival of his
Captain Brassbound's Conversion
. Later successful new plays were
