Age
Respect for the aged is an important principle in Judaism. ‘Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head and honour the face of the old man, and thou shalt fear the God: I am the Lord’ (Leviticus 19: 32). This is understood in the Talmud to mean that whenever an old man or woman passes by one should rise to one's feet as a token of respect.
In most Jewish communities there is a special old-age home (
