White shark passes captivity record
MONTEREY, Calif., Oct 01, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- A young, female great white shark has become the longest-surviving member of the species to survive in captivity, U.S. aquarium officials said Friday.
The 4-foot, 4-inch shark, kept in a holding tank at the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Outer Bay exhibit, continues to navigate the multi-species exhibit with ease, and is feeding regularly, according to a statement released by the facility.
More than 80,000 people have seen her to date, the statement said.
