(The Daily Campus) (U-WIRE) STORRS, Conn. -- A section of India's population continues to struggle due to the constraints of an ancient caste system within Hinduism, the religion of the majority of Indians.
Rev. Dr. John C.B. Webster discussed this problem in the lecture titled, "The Human Rights Struggle of India's Dalits," Thursday at the Dodd Center at the University of Connecticut.
The lecture was divided into three parts. In the first part, Webster discussed the caste system in India and the plight of the Dalits within it. For the second part, Webster played a video segment from a 1999 "60 Minutes" edition that had a report on the Dalits of ...
