955 Iraqi police graduate _ but authorities won't say where

U.S. officials announced the graduation Thursday of 955 Iraqi police officers _ but would not say where the two ceremonies took place.

Iraq's beleaguered security forces are the target of regular bombings, mortar attacks and shooting sprees _ often directed at recruiting centers. Hundreds of policemen and would-be recruits have been killed since the U.S.-led March 2003 invasion.

A total of 805 students, including 73 women, completed the eight-week basic training that prepares them to serve in the police force, U.S. command said in a statement.
