(Daily Californian) (U-WIRE) BERKELEY, Calif. -- When Free Speech Movement veteran Jack Radey was a freshman, he only needed to yell for help.

Within minutes, a crowd of students would assemble, offering him everything from car rides to money.

Although it is the iconic image of leader Mario Savio standing atop a police car that lives on, it was thousands of student supporters who made the movement happen, said veterans Thursday in a campus panel called "How it Worked: Nuts and Bolts of the FSM."
