Chicago City College professors strike
CHICAGO, Oct 19, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- More than 500 full-time teachers at the seven Chicago City Colleges are on picket lines Tuesday in a labor dispute over teaching load and class size.
College officials want professors to teach 15 hours per semester, an increase of one class per semester, with no overtime pay.
Teacher's union president Perry Buckley says the community college professors have 39 to 43 students in evening classes and up to 195 students if they teach five classes. "It is impossible to be a good college teacher and have 195 students," ...
