Arafat in critical condition
RAMALLAH, West Bank, Oct 28, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat lost consciousness last night after a week of illness and treatment by Tunisian and Jordanian doctors, and according to reports from the Haaretz newspaper, he was fighting for his life.
On Thursday, according to Palestinian officials, Arafat, 75, was in "serious but stable condition."
Arafat's Ramallah compound has reportedly been swarmed by senior Palestinian officials, Fatah activists, and residents of Ramallah, but Haaretz reported that only the chairman's doctors were allowed inside.
