Banks, energy sectors lead retreat amid fear violence will spread.
The stock market plunged 3.32 per cent on panic selling yesterday as
investors grew jittery over the rising oil price and mounting tension in
the Muslim-dominated deep South.
Investor anxieties sent the SET index into a tailspin from the opening
bell following a 1.6-per-cent fall on Tuesday. The SET index dived to a
low of 626.13 shortly before the market closed at 626.85. Turnover was
a moderate Bt25.50 billion.
The energy sector was the hardest hit as it fell 3.44 per cent, led by
