MOHAMED Sulaiman, 79, has no complaints about his pension. It's just RM900 a month, but it sees him through because he lives with his son and daughter.

"It all depends on whether a pensioner has dependents, assets such as a house and, of course, caring children.
"And how you spend your money," added the father of five sons and two daughters.

A widower, Mohamed retired as a clerk with the State Secretary's Office here 23 years ago.

Things have been easy for him, as a daughter and a grandson also support him.
