Higher fuel consumption?
Edition: 2*
Column: Autocare

DEAR Paul,

Would a bigger diameter exhaust pipe result in higher fuel consumption? What if it comes stock standard from the factory, eg, the latest Saga / Iswara 1.3 Aeroback. Some say that the fuel consumption is higher than its previous model but I was thinking that since it comes in standard, the difference in fuel intake would not be significant. I am sure it won't be as high as a Waja 1.6 as some even claimed. Secondly, cars that are more than 10 years of age tend to have higher fuel consumption, as compared to new cars. Is this true ? Please advise.
- Sham.
