Vic: Juvenile offenders could get electronic tags
MELBOURNE, Nov 17 AAP - Juvenile offenders on leave from detention could be fitted
with electronic monitoring devices under a proposal being considered by the Victorian
government.
A report has recommended fitting high-risk juvenile offenders on escorted leave with
global positioning devices in case they flee.
Another recommendation suggests offenders who are on temporary leave be fitted with
electronic monitoring devices - which are already used on adult prisoners - to ensure
they comply with curfews.
Community Services Minister Sherryl Garbutt said the government would consider adopting
