NATIONAL coach Yap Kim Hock will break from tradition and make it compulsory for his protege Koo Kien Keat to compete in the men's doubles and mixed-doubles events under the 2008 Beijing Olympics programme.

Kien Keat, 19, and partner Chan Chong Ming are seen as Malaysia's best medal prospects in the doubles but Kim Hock believes Kien Keat has what it takes to strike up a world class mixed-doubles combination with Wong Pei Tty, 22.
